at Yager’s Tap House and Grille Pub.

Brian McKeown, one of Yager’s co-owners, said he has known for some time that the building, located at 727 Trader Lane, was haunted.

“Last year, when we were remodeling the place, previous patrons and employees would stop by and tell us stories,” McKeown said. “We heard a lot of interesting stories.”

He said that the building was something of a “fixer-upper” and a lot of work went into it, so Yager’s could re-open for last year’s Folsom Live. During that time, McKeown said he heard more stories about the place and learned about its history.

“The building was built in 1856. I believe that it was originally a fire house,” he said. “Peter Yager opened his brewery here in 1882. Before Prohibition, it was a bar called the Soapy Saloon. It has also been a hardware store and a grocery store.”

The lowermost floor once served as downtown’s civil defense bomb shelter years ago and it has three underground tunnels — all of which are now sealed.

“Bootleggers used those tunnels

during the Prohibition days, (according to local lore),” McKeown said. “I’ve heard there are other tunnels in the Sutter Street area.”

McKeown said that many of the stories he’s heard focus around the ghost of a little girl.

“Some people have seen her running around the pool table,” he said. “One day, one of our cooks was mopping the upstairs room where the pool table was located. He heard a sound and looked around — that’s when he saw this little girl running around the pool table and watched her vanish into thin air.”

Jeff Dwyer, a paranormal investigator from San Francisco, wrote a book titled “Ghost Hunter’s Guide to California Gold Rush Country.” The book has a listing on Yager’s and even calls the entity “The Eight-Ball Ghost.”

McKeown knew the story.

“A few years ago, some customers wanted to play pool but couldn’t because the eight ball was missing,” he said. “They looked everywhere for it and couldn’t find the damn thing. Then, that night, one of the employees walked by the pool table and out rolls the eight-ball.”

The pool table has since been relocated to the bottom floor, where the old bomb shelter was located. But, the “Little Girl,” as McKeown and some employees call her, keeps busy all over the building.

“After our opening, we could hear footsteps

up in the attic,” he said. “Then the door up there would open and close by itself. Something kept messing with the alarm control box too. It got to be annoying at first then we just told ourselves it was (the Little Girl). We’ve gotten used to it.”

McKeown said employees and customers have told him of hearing a girl laugh and whispering. Some, he said, have even experienced cold spots appearing then disappearing.

“But, it’s nothing creepy,” he said. “Before this, I had another experience with the paranormal. I’m not scared. In fact, I’ve even crashed here over night during the remodel but I was never scared.”

Last Christmas, one of the bartenders set out a plate of cookies for the Little Girl.

“Nothing happened though,” he said.

But the Little Girl isn’t the only ghost haunting Yager’s.

“We call the other one ‘the Old Woman,’” he said. “Some people who’ve been in the old bomb shelter have seen her. Some have even been touched by her.”

Like the Little Girl, McKeown said no one feels threatened by this other entity. Nothing malicious has ever happened.

“I would love to know more about the history of the building and who worked here,” he said. “I know the ghosts are attached to this place for some reason.”

While McKeown is curious about the ghosts he doesn’t want ghost hunters to show up and investigate.

“The ghosts are here because they want to be and we want them to stay,” McKeown said. “We don’t want people to provoke them or anything like that. This is their home, so to speak, and I don’t want anyone to be disrespectful towards them.”

So, McKeown and others at Yager’s are content with their ghostly companions. He looks forward to more experiences.

“This Christmas, we’ll be setting out a plate filled with cookies again,” he said. “It’d be great if they were gone by the morning.”

is one of the most haunted hotels in the nation. KSAX went inside to find out why.

“It operates today as it did in 1900,” Owner Kelley Freese said.

The Palmer House stands today as it did more than a century ago. As the first building in Sauk Centre to have electricity, it was a destination for many, and Freese said some of those guests haven’t left.

“The activity has really been intense in the kitchen, and there’s a man that walks around in the dining room that several of us have seen,” Freese said.

The man she sees isn’t real. He’s an apparition.

“You go there only to find nobody’s there,” she explained.

Paranormal investigators come from all over

to investigate this haunted hotel. KSAX investigated. As we walked up the stairs it got colder even though no windows were open and there’s no air conditioning.

“There’s just no way to explain it,” Freese said.

The cold turned into almost a breeze when Freese turned on the antique phonograph, playing old music.

Many experience the unexplained during their time in the hotel. A guest took this unaltered picture, not realizing what they captured. In the picture there’s an image of something floating in the window’s reflection in the mirror.

In some of our video, a dot of light appears out of nowhere. It’s a light anomaly, which is an unexplained source of light, dancing around in from of the same window.

“That could be a person,” Freese said as we described what we were seeing.

Freese said a light anomaly is one of the most concrete pieces of paranormal evidence caught on camera, because much of the activity comes when you least expect it.

“Books have come flying off the shelf in the pub,

” Freese recalled. “Literally off the bookshelves, over the top of the table and land on the other side of the room.”

“A lot of people get touched. I’ve had my hair pulled and my arm yanked back,” Paranormal Investigator Lisa Lee said.

Another source of evidence is sound.

“We’ve heard voices,” Lee explained. “We’ve heard dogs barking in the basement.”

“Could you tell me what your name is,” Sherry Johnson said, speaking to a little girl no one could see.

Johnson used a modified radio to pick up sound during our investigation.

“Spirits can use the voices and the words already in our airwaves. They can answer our questions by pulling those words out and sending them out through the radio,” Johnson said.

While sitting in the playroom, Johnson spoke with the spirits of children. We heard a quiet voice say one word, “nervous” through the radio.

Johnson and Freese have heard more voices caught on tape in the hotel’s basement.

“Do you recognize anyone in the room,” they asked. A voice from someone no one could see responded, “Kelley.”

More often than not the presence of ghosts or spirits is a feeling, but sometimes when you least expect it the guests you can’t always see in the Palmer House will surprise you; whether it’s an apparition, a moving object, or a voice telling you to leave.

Derby (WTNH) – An old, deserted opera house in Derby is said to be haunted. News Channel 8′s Kent Pierce went inside to check it out.

The phantom of the opera only exists in movies and plays, but in Derby they say they have a phantom haunting the Sterling Opera House. It hasn’t been used for years, but the Valley Arts Council is in the middle of renovations. Some people were inside one Halloween and say they saw something spooky.

“We thought we saw a rat on the railing, hey look a rat on the railing, and upon further examination, it had like wispiness of smoke coming off of it. So, before running out of the building like a scardeycat, I took a couple of shots straight up,” said Rich DiCarlo, Valley Arts Council.

DiCarlo took some pictures, one of which shows what appears to be a woman in a Victorian-era dress.

“Mr. Sterling, who was building the Opera house back then, died a couple years before the completion. We’re trying to see if maybe his wife took over the building and maybe that’s the person who’s watching over this place,” DiCarlo said.

Just a few weeks, another photo shows strange orbs hovering seats in the audience. A paranormal investigator has come to the opera house and reportedly captured more images. The building does have a long history. Harry Houdini performed here. Amelia Earhart spoke here. If there are spirits hanging around, Rich Dicarlo says they don’t mean us any harm.

“Whatever it is or whatever they are, it’s a comfortable feeling,” he said. “It’s a friendly ghost.”

Unlike fluctuations in an EMF field we ourselves perceive temperature change though we are also equally prone to simply believing an area to be cold or suddenly go cold so we need to verify our perception. An air temperature meter will employ a sensor either within the unit or use an external sensor to gauge the temperature around itself and that usually means around you as these are carried most of the time. A beam type thermometer measures the temperature at the apex of it’s beam or beams so we are really talking temperature on a target not ambient air temperature and no beam type temperature meter can measure along its beam as one so called expert on Most Haunted claimed! Side Note – Temperature meters are available with backlights, useful for the paranormal investigator.

What you do by using these boards or by using other portal devices is essentially open a gate through which any entity may pass and much like the personalities we meet in life it is possible to encounter both good and bad, dependant on your outlook, that is why it is necessary to have protection in place.Once you have opened the board and completed the session don’t forget to shut the gate by closing the board. There is no physical advantage in using either wood, slate, glass or plastic but the easy movement of the planchette ( pointer ) over the surface is required. To the paranormal investigator the results of using these devices can sometimes give us names and dates that can referrenced and even reasons why activity is taking place, this of course can greatly assist if say a resolvement is sought. The same rules that apply to boards also apply any other portal apparatus, such as scrying mirrors. On a psychic level we experiment with dowsing pendulums and use a glow-in-the-dark version as an interaction device.
