dudley12 300x225 Dudley Castle Ghost Hunt, West MidlandsDudley Castle has long attracted ghost hunters and rightly so!
Built in the dark ages it has been occupied ever since both as a stronghold castle and manor right up until the 1960’s.
It’s colourful life has seen it under seige and battle, witnessing executions and it was seriously considered as a prison for Mary Queen of Scots, however it was deemed unsuitable for this task.
It held out against Cromwell’s men in the English Civil War but suffered the penalty of its defenses being slighted for it. By these troublesome times the castle had long since been remodelled to allow for improved accommodation and had effectively more of a Tudor palace compared to that of a medieval fortress.
It remained this way until a fire in 1750 ravaged much of the fabric and no attempt thereafter was made to reinstate the grand rooms. This fire however was in itself a mystery as it was said a forging operation was going on here at the time and the fire was deliberately started to hide the shady goings on!
From then until now the castle proper was viewed as a romantic ruin with some small remedial works  undertaken on the ruin.
This much haunted location plays host to a multitude of spirits including the fearsome spectre of a former Baron who is active next to his stone coffin held here. A mysterious monk-like figure walks the grounds and  maybe he is able to keep time with the ghostly drummer boy’s beat from the time of the civil war?  There is also the obligatory Grey Lady who here passes by in her mournful state bought about by the loss of her newborn daughter and the failure to have her dying wishes granted.
Follow us if you dare as we invoke, the former families, barons, soldiers and staff of this place to come forward on our investigation…
