An introduction to Belgrave Hall.
Back in the 18th Century the village of Belgrave stood aside from the rapidly expanding city of Leicester and in 1709 Edmund Craddock and his wife built Belgrave Hall, encompassing their creation within a brick walled garden. Their home saw their habitation for only a few years though as alas by 1715 they were both dead! It has been said that the property was built over un-consecrated ground, perhaps for such a disturbance a price had to be paid? So the property began to change hands passing onto some owners who embellished the building with their own touches and they included a high sheriff of Leicester together with a notable industrialist and politician. The property eventually ended up in the hands of the Leicester council where it became a museum.
This is a curious building that sits in a quiet, out-of-pace niche within the city today. Yet do not be fooled! This venue is anything but quiet for the ghost hunter!
The outer walled greenery arouses images of ‘The Secret Garden’ whilst inside the depiction of the house from days gone by gives an air of spookyness to the atmosphere exuded within. Artefacts not from the house lend themselves to this portrayal but have they only added something to the possible spiritual energy that's already here? What is it that rocks the rocking horse in the nursery or sways the hanging light of the stairway hall and what throws cutlery at after-hours visitors? Here is a location possibly resident to troubled or malevolent entities that are not by past accounts shy in their coming forth! For our investigation we will have Lee Gilbert – Belgrave Hall’s own paranormal expert on hand with us and if you are ready to face an unquiet night at the museum your company too!
